when i read the fine print in our renovation permit, i thought i read, 'no alternative energy' and got a bit worried, cause we of course have plans to put solar collectors on the roof for hot water and heating, and later even solar pv for electricity. But given my italian is far from perfect it could have been quite different writing. Last night we went to Ettore to double check and he confirmed, that because of 'rules for protection of the environment' it is not generally allowed to put up systems for alternative energy onto the roof. Ettore did not know whether to laugh or cry, "'this is italy', write it again, incredible!"
so we need to have some more contact with our nice neighbour from across the road who is the administrator for permits in the municipality.. gotta get a permit, otherwise i need to contact my Greenpeace friends in Rome.. :-)
