sister visit

long time since our last blog and i know you have been waiting impatiently. so here is what happened since the last entry,.,.

on friday we finally moved the big sliding door from its temporary place into the garage. it was a little exciting but i seem to get used to holding my breath. on saturday it rained all day. not 24 h, it started at seven in the morning and stopped at ten at night, but it felt like summer is over. Uta and Stefan arrived at about half past four in the afternoon and their first viewing of the house was a bit under the impression of the rain. the next morning, after a good meal at ettores place (and not such a good night at the hotel d'italia in garessio) with the sun shining things looked much better. the plan was that they'd help us shlep some more stuff out of the house, fill one more container, but the container did not arrive, not on saturday and not on sunday. and since sunday was the equivalent in italy to midsummer in sweden, where everyone takes holidays, we did not bother call again. instead we had a good sunday lunch and then a bit of hammock testing for uta and stefan under the pergola.

on monday we went to the beach, this time to alassio and the water and the beach were wonderful, even if the town and beach were crowded. the weather was perfect, not too hot not too cold and under the umbrella we all had a few hours of rest.

we were not so successful finding mushrooms today, even though i had expected the conditions to be great. the sister trip was rounded off by a visit to diano d'alba and barolo where good wines were tasted and purchased. now sister and her lovely man are in the hands of the guy who owns my favourite restaurant in barolo and i hope they will be going to their guestroom as happy and content as we have each time we have been there.
