Ferragosto weekend in Italy is like midsummer in Sweden, the real big summer holiday weekend. People have parties, go to the beach and relax. We used the Saturday to visit the vine area around Diano d’Alba and Barolo and buy some wine for the long Swedish winter. We visited a favourite organic wine maker whos wine we have bought in the fabulous cantina communale in Diano d’Alba for a few years now. Had a look at their vineyards, tasted the Dolcetto grapes, tasted the wine and bought some Dolcetto and Nebbiolo. We even asked about buying some wine plants, but after having seen their vineyard and compared the sweetness of their Dolcetto grapes with ours, we realize that whatever we will be able to produce, it does not have the same perfect conditions in Casario as in the hills over there in Diano and surrounding. Which does not mean we won’t try to make some anyway, and Niklas has already inspected the land and checked which slope gets the most sun.
